The Lummis House is a rustic American stone craftsman house built by Charles Lummis. Also known as El Alisal, meaning "alder grove", it was built over a period of 13 years starting sometime around 1895-1897. Charles Lummis lived here and tended to the nearby Southwest Museum, which he helped found in 1907. It's a little gem of a place to visit, and admission is free. The property is located at 200 E. Ave. 43, Los Angeles, CA 90031. It is operated by the City of Los Angeles, is a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Photo by Ming Lo
